flipping slashes?

I noticed on safari, file fields are shown with forward slashes, whereas on a PC, file fields show backslashes.

IE: on my pc, i browse to a file:
path\to\my\file.jpg

on my mac, i browse to the same file:
path/to/my/file.jpg

I'd like to alert the "file.jpg" to the user, but have to either split at the forward slash or the backslash.. can you suggest how to do both?

pc or 'microsoft' rather, is back asswards. but we all must cope with incompetence. i'm sure a regex split would work just fine, allowing either / or \ and counting the array elements - 1, and ouput the last array element.
