New site of mine

Here's my new site, it's only the first page, need to add some content but the general idea is there. Can you let me know what you think if that's not too much to ask, I've tried to keep it simple and not over do it, and used a variation of colours to decorate it.

Nice design! I like it. However Your site will look a bit more better if it was centered in the browser. SO I chnage this:
margin: 0 0 0 10px;
That is in your #content div to the following:
margin: 20px auto 0px auto;
That should make your content div centralise your whole site in the center of the browser and bring your page down by 20px rather than having it stuck to the top left which a mear 10px left margin.
This will cause a little problem for your body background. But if you use a 20pc padding then apply the body background to the content div it should centralise your background so it will only go down as far as the content dive rather than going all the way down the page.

I'm not too sure about your nav menu under your header. It looks a bit too basic and that light grey on hover doesn't fit in with the site. Prehaps chnage the tect color to a dark grey instead when you mouse over it.

Also rather than using h1 for all your headers use
h1 for siteheder and for main headers
h2 for sub headers
h3 for sub sections (such as the ones on the left)

If you get your poage centered and fix that background from repeating past the content div your site design will pretty good!

As wildteen said - itd look better centered - I think.

Also the top left image seems out of place. Perhaps if it was down underneath the header, and not part of it.

Ya - good layout.
With large text - as you are using - its best to create it as images - where you can put anti-aliased text (no sharp edges). You can also choose your own font in the images - and this will appear "as is" on every ones pc.

Also - if you could keep away from the really tiny text.

Your header needs to be better and perhaps integrate the image you had.
Waiting to see how it turns out.

Colour scheme = ok. Avoid the light greys etc. as mentioned by wildteen.

It's a good start, but needs some work:

1) centered as the others mentioned
2) I'm not sure why you have 2 different logos... that looks a bit odd and I'd go with one or the other. I personally like the red one... and if you're going to go with the one with the grass/background image, make the words part of the image because the text resolution isn't fine enough and it looks jagged and cheap.
3) the footer is damn near unreadable
4) the whole header area needs work. Your nav could be a bit more flashy (note: NOT FLASH... just more flashy) and you need to pick a design for that area and stick with it.

Work on it, throw up some more content and then post again. It has a lot of potential.

Yes nice design! apart from centering the layout I think you will also need to take a closer look at the navigation on top. When you roll over some of the links, the rest moves too.

Also your slogan: "Designing for the future of Art " I can barely read it. Try a different font maybe?

Other than that, good job!

I agree it's a nice design...but the original is always better:

I agree that that design does look better, but I don't think that it's fully stealing. His design is a lot... different, that's for sure.

Yea indeed, I'll hold my hands up and quite honestly say that I did not design the full lay out, I saw his and decided to modify it for my own pleasure, at the minute I don't currently have all the skills to create my own CSS site from scratch so I took his and I am now learning something from looking through this, I have done a few changes to it again and thank you very much for the responses, I'll post it later on for you to look at, just adding some content. I think most people might of thought I done this design so for that I apologise but that was never my intention.

I am just in a transition at the minute where I am looking into web developement, so from something which has never been high on my list of things to do to something which I really do like is a big step for me.

I have good design skills alot of people say but there is much more to it than design with CSS and web design so here I am.

A question I have is::

How easy would it be to implement an image gallery into my site, something such as Hoverbox and Lightbox?

I'd like to know as obviously I am going to need one so if anybody has any advice on that then thankyou.
