To work with maps using PHP

I want to work with maps that too with PHP. How do i do that??? I was told that i require GD libraries. But i was not able to install it in my local system.So how should i go about?? or Are there any 3rd party tools with PHP that will be able to help me out.. Please let me know.......... Please help me out of this.

Why don't you look into Google Maps API

But Google maps API doesn't use any PHP coding. It all does with JavaScript. I want some thing that uses PHP. Anyways thankq for that.... Please tryif you can help me out....

i was looking at this the other day: [a href=\"http://www.web-max.ca/PHP/\" target=\"_blank\"]http://www.web-max.ca/PHP/[/a]

depends on the extent of the mapping, zoop, detail, etc, but there is a 4 part tutorial on mapping which is fairly easy to follow too.
