mysql not accepting password

I don't know what I changed, now when I log on to mysql, it doesn't accept any password.
if i leave the passwork field empty, it log right in.
however if type the correct password, (i know it's the correct password) it give me this error:

ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'ODBC'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Life's too short for arguing.

Well, if you can log in without a password, then there's no password. Simply change the password.
Seriously... if people don't start reading this before posting, I'm going to consider not answering at all.
