It may be that Iframes are not usually used in sites, but if you are making a site in html then there really is nothing wrong with using them, I have used iframes for some sites and it works wery well. And it gives the site a very nice and consistent look since the only thing that changes in the site when you hit a button is the Iframe content. Good luck with the Iframes...
