It may sound stupid, but is their really an admin@localhost user defined? (Usually you would use root@.. as your administrative user, not that you should use it for anything other than administration.) Also, are you sure that user admin@localhost has been identified with a password, and that you are typing the correct password in? It's a common problem that seems to trip me up all too often. You're not alone!
