1. Thanks for all the comments guys, especially 448191; wow dude, wow. I know that the red on white is really hard on the eyes but no other colour seems to work well in my eyes, and after about 5 seconds, I get used to it; if I lower the opacity of the red by just a few percentage points, it looks faded. Could you perhaps suggest a hex value and I'll try that. Also, what is wrong with the way my text is positioned?
2. Please let me know what you think of The Scrutinizer. I've added almost 100 new links and I've made the height of the different sections not fixed.
I have asked on some other forums and the most prominent one seems to be .it, same as the one guy who voted. Thanks for the input!

Once that is decided then you can simply create an array in the cookie with the links visited and when the page is loaded it checks that array and adds anchors accordingly. Otherwise if you want to use a database you would have it query for a user and links visited then act accordingly after that. I think both have their advantages; the cookie method is much much easier but also can be undone by deleting cookies. The user method is more complicated but also more permanent.
I was hoping there would be an easier way to do that, like a function but I guess that's the only way. Thanks for the solution!
5. Sorry maybe I'm not saying it properly. Basically, I have a list of links to external sites. If the user clicks on a link and then refreshes the page, I want to display an image next to that link that says they have visited it. I know you can do this in CSS with :visited but I need to apply it to something besides an anchor. Hope this explains it better.
6. It may not be on my site though. Let's say the user visited google.com. Is there anyway I can find out if they did using a function or something?
7. Is there a way for me to determine if a link has been visited using PHP?
8. [!--quoteo(post=373235:date=May 11 2006, 05:54 AM:name=448191)--][div class=\'quotetop\']QUOTE(448191 @ May 11 2006, 05:54 AM) [/div][div class=\'quotemain\'][!--quotec--] I find this site very intimidating! It's way too red and way too green, and this might be because I looking at on a 19", it makes me want to close the browser window quickly. I'm not even going to read the black links on their red background, I'd could care less what they say. (Allthough those are interesting links /wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /] )
Wow, that's a very different opinion! What colours would you suggest?
9. [!--quoteo(post=372905:date=May 10 2006, 08:38 AM:name=ober)--][div class=\'quotetop\']QUOTE(ober @ May 10 2006, 08:38 AM) [/div][div class=\'quotemain\'][!--quotec--] Nice site with a lot of tools... and I may give a more detailed critique later, but one major thing I noticed is that your little "this is your URL, press the go button" DOESN'T DO ANYTHING. Am I missing something?
I wanted people to know what they were Scrutinizing and so I made it an anchor to their URL. Then someone brought up a good point and said that there should be a form to submit their URL. That's basically what it does. If you have a way to improve it please let me know as it is a bit awkward in some cases.
10. [!--quoteo(post=372803:date=May 9 2006, 10:12 PM:name=akitchin)--][div class=\'quotetop\']QUOTE(akitchin @ May 9 2006, 10:12 PM) [/div][div class=\'quotemain\'][!--quotec--] on first glance, i would recommend a clearer "home" link. it took me a while to find the ones that underline and overline the site title. i would normally have expected it to be on the actual "logo."
Yea actually it is supposed to be on the logo. the technique I used works fine on my main site (phileplanet.com) but it acts all funny here. I am still trying to work that out. Is there anything else?
11. I just released a new web service called [a href=\"http://www.scrutinizer.phileplanet.com/\" target=\"_blank\"]The Scrutinizer[/a]. It lets you test a URL against many web services via form submission, a bookmarklet or referal. Let me know what you guys think and please suggest any links that should be there.
12. Google has finally released their web-based [a href=\"http://www.google.com/calendar/render\" target=\"_blank\"]calendar[/a] app; it's pretty cool!
