  1. Hmm, I was afraid you were going to say that. Given that I'm on a shared server at Yahoo, and cannot modify the php.ini file, am I stuck doing an include on every page?
  2. I don't think I understand. I thought if the auto_*_file directive was set in the php.ini, there wasn't a need to manually include files in each of your pages.
  3. Hello all, My sites are hosted on Yahoo, and they have the following settings... auto_append_file = common_footer.inc auto_prepend_file = common_header.inc include_path = .:/include:/usr/lib/php If I put the common_footer.inc and common_header.inc into the root of the website, and browse to a root page, it works fine. But if I browse to any subfolders, it can't find them. What am I missing? Doesn't it defeat the purpose if you have to put these files in every directory? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ryan
  4. As you can tell, I'm fairly new to this. Thanks for the advice!
  5. That's the version Yahoo is using, where my sites will be hosted, and I'd like to mimic the production environment as much as possible. Is 4.4.6 close enough to 4.3.11 that I could develope on it?
  6. Hello, Yahoo hosting is using version 4.3.11, but I can't find it for download to install on my dev machine. Any ideas where I can find it? Thanks! Ryan
  7. Thank you for your quick replies. I'll do some more research into WordPress.
  8. Hello all, I've just started teaching myself PHP (and building my family website in it), and I want to get a blog going. (I'm not foolish enough to think I can blog about PHP, I'll start with the languages I know, then maybe start PHP when I know more) Anyway, my question to you is: what are the best PHP-based blog softwares? I did a search, and nothing seemed to jump out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Ryan
  9. Hello all, I'm trying to install php5 on a Windows 2003 Server Web Edition. The end goal is to install phpBB to run with SQL Server 2000. I was going to use these instructions... [a href=\"http://www.peterguy.com/php/install_IIS6.html\" target=\"_blank\"]http://www.peterguy.com/php/install_IIS6.html[/a] Has anybody ever followed these steps? The last time I tried to install php, it was a nightmare. So I'm looking for some directions that will make it easy this time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ryan
