1. Thanks! I found the access spot on the host site and am ready to move ahead! md
2. Okay, so I just have discovered this whole realm of PHP and MySQL and have decided that I need to learn some of this stuff. I have begun reading the article Build your own Database Driven Website using PHP & MySQL on Sitepoint. I am still foggy on the relation between my pc that I work on (running WXP), Dreamweaver MX, and our webhost (Verio). The article mentions installing php and MySQL...I know that our webhost runs PHP 4.4.1 and I assume MySql also. Do I need to install anything on my machine to be able to manipulate these programs more effectively, or do I work on it somewhere in dreamweaver and then upload? I am brand brand new to this, so any other helpful "get started" tips that anyone can give me would be splendid! thanks, md
3. Lite~ I'm back! With the help of some other PHP gurus, or Freaks I suppose, I was able to do a test script on our website and discovered that PHP Version 4.4.1 is installed. I had a whole page of tables and tables that has lots of information that is, I'm sure, quite important. Is there something in there that I should look for? There is one that says "Calendar" and "enabled". thanks, md
4. Holy cow! Thanks! I get a page with loads of tables and the heading on the page is "PHP Version 4.4.1" So, I'm thinking that I have PHP installed. Okey dokey...thanks! Now I go back to my other thread and try to figure out why the php calendar script wouldn't show up. thanks! md
5. okay...proof of how little I know about this: Where do I put the script? On an existing web page and upload it? Where in the code do I insert it? thanks! md
6. How do I know whether or not our web host (Verio) will allow my website to have php? Please forgive my lack of accurate terms. Is there some place I can find that information? I have emailed customer support but not heard back yet. thanks!
7. [!--quoteo(post=355544:date=Mar 15 2006, 08:50 PM:name=litebearer)--][div class=\'quotetop\']QUOTE(litebearer @ Mar 15 2006, 08:50 PM) [/div][div class=\'quotemain\'][!--quotec--] Let's start at the beginning... 1. Have you checked with your webmaster/host to ascertain that you in fact have php capabilities? 2. Presuming #1 is yes, what name extensions have you used for the pertinent files? 3. Also - if you can provide a little more detail as to who will have access to add/delete/modify the calendar. once we have a bit more infor we can move from there. Lite...
Lite, Funny you should ask. I did send an email to Verio's tech support, which usually takes a couple days, to ask this very question. I couldn't find anything on my account page that indicated whether or not it has php capabilities. My guess is that it does not, and I'm hoping they can help me make the necessary changes. 2) all of the files have the .php extension 3) Probably just me and maybe one othe person will have access to make changes to the calendar. Thank you for responding! I'll come back again tomorrow (hopefully) when I learn more from Verio. md
8. Hi! I know absolutely nothing about PHP, or html for that matter, yet I edit the content of my organization's website. I want to include an event calendar and have downloaded one from softcomplex. After putting in the code as instructed, I can't get the darn thing to show up on the site. I am not wedded to this particular calendar, so if there's an easier/better one I would be happy to change. Please help a lost newbie! thanks, md
