1. Thank you so much! the upload is currently working, but I would like to add more fields, such as an email and comment box. I would also love to have a progress bar.. because it seems to take a very long time to upload video, I dont want clients to think the site crashed or is not working... the link is: http://globaltechstudios.com/upload.php
2. I created a form with a file upload button meant to upload large video files to my server, mainly because emails dont allow large files to be transmitted. If I dont set a file size limit in my script will all file sizes be able to uploaded? Are there any advantages to setting a file size? When I tested the upload feature it seemed to take a really long time.. is this due to not setting a file size? Thank you very much! Lisa.
3. yes i want the information uploaded to my server instead of it being emailed to an email address. is that possible??? im not very firmiliar with php but im trying to learn. i have created a form in dreamweaver and i am now just trying to activate it with php.
4. hello i am in the process of making a contact form that has an upload video file. I would like to know if there is a way to have the infomation in the form sent to my ftp server instead of an email address when submitted. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

6.
Can you tell me what you need if it's a simple poll script then try this. http://www.spoono.com/php/tutorials/tutorial.php?id=39
Hi redarrow, thanks for that link however i dont understand it to well i didnt even get past the first part. Its teaching me how to do a poll that has 3 options. I need one like this... http://www.greatestassever.com It also says that i will want to set up some variables to help connect to the database and it list these: $dbhost = "localhost"; $dbname = "YourDataBase"; $dbuser = "YourUserName"; $dbpass = "YourPass"; I didnt set up a local host because my hosting company said i can load the pages right onto my ftp server. And also would  $dbname = "YourDataBase"; be the name i created for my database? im sorry for all the questions im so eager to learn but this has become the most difficult thing to learn.
7. So i contacted my hosting company register.com and they support php and mysql. They told me that I dont need to download mysql or php and that alls i need to do is insert php coding into my html script and load it to my server. They showed me how to set up a database folder on my server. So does anyone know of any good tutorials or a place where you can pay for this specific script i need? any help would be greatly appreciated
8. "How thick is the book?" OH NO!!!
9. I was having a problem loading the script it kept saying page unavailable. So that part that is missing I can insert anywhere? And how far away am I from learning a poll? YOur making me nervous!
10. Well I bought this book called "dreamweaver8 and flash 8" by master visually because I want to create the poll in a website I am working on now. So this book gives you the step by step on installing each server. So I installed apache and php so far now Im at the chapter that says "configure Apache to process PHP code" it tells me that the apache configuration file needs 3 lines to process PHP coding 1) ScriptAlias /php/ "c:/php/" 2) AddType application/x-httpd-php .php 3) Action application/x-httpd-php /php/php-cgi.exe) when searching threw the file I have found only the paragraphs for Scriptalias and Addtype. So i was able to type in the codes that were necessary. I can not find anything in this script that says action application. In the book it shows you the paragraph of where your suppost to type the code needed. The paragraph reads...... # Action lets you define media types that will execute a script whenever # a matching file is called. The eliminates the need for repeat URL # pathnames for oft-used CGI file processors. # Format: Action media/type /cgi-script/location # Format: Action handler-name /cgi-script/location # Action application/x-httpd-php/ php/php-cgi.exe <--- this is the sentence I need to type in the script. If you know where this whole part may go so I can type the whole thing in it would be greatley appreciated. Thank you!!! I have attached the file that I am suppost to add these links into.
# # This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file.  It contains the # configuration directives that give the server its instructions. # See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/> for detailed information. # In particular, see # <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/directives.html> # for a discussion of each configuration directive. # # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding # what they do.  They're here only as hints or reminders.  If you are unsure # consult the online docs. You have been warned.  # # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the # server will use that explicit path.  If the filenames do *not* begin # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log" # with ServerRoot set to "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2" will be interpreted by the # server as "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/logs/foo.log". # # NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes # instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache"). # If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which Apache.exe is located # will be used by default.  It is recommended that you always supply # an explicit drive letter in absolute paths, however, to avoid # confusion. # # ThreadsPerChild: constant number of worker threads in the server process # MaxRequestsPerChild: maximum  number of requests a server process serves ThreadsPerChild 250 MaxRequestsPerChild  0 # # ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's # configuration, error, and log files are kept. # # Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path.  If you point # ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to point the LockFile directive # at a local disk.  If you wish to share the same ServerRoot for multiple # httpd daemons, you will need to change at least LockFile and PidFile. # ServerRoot "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2" # # Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or # ports, instead of the default. 11. Hey guys Im very new to php and I threw this together in dreamweaver so you will have a basic idea of what I'm trying to do. I want to create a voting poll like the sample link I provided below. I want a radio button under each picture then a vote button at the bottom. I dont want people to be able to vote more then once but however if they try I want a pop up to appear saying that their previous vote will be cancelled. Then after they click vote I want another window to come up showing the totals. Can this be done in dreamweaver? And if so are there any good step by step tutorials on how to do it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!! (the pictures do not appear in the sample but you can still see what I am trying to do)
12. Can dreamweaver perform something like this or do I need php?
13.
If this user is known to you, as in 'has logged-in', you can keep the voting count in the database with the user's data. If any site vitisor can vote, then all you can do is collect as much data as you can gather, such as referer (not always set), ip address (not always trustworthy), browser data, etc. and store that in the database. And use that to compare with each new vote. Ronald   8)
Hey Ronald, Thanks for the quick reply...but Im sorry I didnt really understand....The only people who can vote are those who are logged in. This is going to be a members paid site. I would like everything to be done automatically if that is possible...So would this be done using php?
14. Hey guys im very new to php and Im working on a website that would need to look like this. I threw this together in Dreamweaver to give you an idea. I need it to be a voting site where there is a check box under each pic where an individual would view all pictures then at the end choose one and click vote having a box appear with the total. Now I dont mind if the person votes more then once however I only want their last vote to count. Now could this be done using php? And if so can anyone point me in the right direction. Thank you so much!! Lisa P.s. I apologize but when you view the sample the pictures dont appear but you can still see what I am trying to aim for!
15.
Yeah if you want to view how your design looks when you click the world icon within DW and its a PHP file, it'll ask you those questions again. However you can run the code through PHP Designer if you have WAMP installed and have PHP Designer setup to point to the PHP Intepreter, all shown on the first video of that site linked above.
if not will it be viewable once i put it in the ftp server?
No, if you run through that first video again on that site. It'll show you how to install a package called WAMP. WAMP is a web server package that you can install your PC. Once you have installed that you can save your files within the htdocs folder of the WAMP package and then go to http://localhost/filename.php to run your PHP scripts.
so wait wamp acts as a web server? im sorry buy i dont understand. how would i connect pages from dreamweaver to a php page in php designer if i cant load the php pages onto my ftp server? is there a good article to read about this? Im sorry to keep bothering you however thank you so much for all your help i appreciate it!
