1. Hi, I am using a standard file-upload script that writes successfully to my webhost's server (godaddy), but immediately after writing the file I want to get the number of words and cannot. I am using file_get_contents(path-to-the-file-i-just-uploaded). Godaddy is a bit weird, I have to use a long long explicit path to write the file, which is what you see below. But if I specify the same path when trying to read the file, I can No such file or directory.... Code: <?php if ((($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "image/gif") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "image/jpeg") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "image/pjpeg") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "application/msword") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "application/pdf") ) && ($_FILES["file"]["size"] < 500000)) { if ($_FILES["file"]["error"] > 0) { echo "Return Code: " . $_FILES["file"]["error"] . "
"; } else { echo "Upload: " . $_FILES["file"]["name"] . "
"; echo "Type: " . $_FILES["file"]["type"] . "
"; echo "Size: " . ($_FILES["file"]["size"] / 1024) . " Kb
"; echo "Temp file: " . $_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"] . "
"; if (file_exists("upload/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"])) { echo $_FILES["file"]["name"] . " already exists. "; } else { //this works, weird explicit path but it's the only one that works on Godaddy for me move_uploaded_file($_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"], "home/content/p/o/r/portasabertas/html/upload/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"]); echo "Stored in: " . "html/upload/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"]; //okay now read file back to get number of words. this doesn't work, i get No such file or directory //i've tried all permutations of the file location, e.g. /upload/$_FILES["file"]["name"] etc, but get the same error $str = file_get_contents(home/content/p/o/r/portasabertas/html/upload/$_FILES["file"]["name"]); $numWords = str_word_count($str); echo "This file have ". $numWords . " words"; } } } else { echo "Invalid file"; } ?>
 2. i'm using the MIT freelicense 'sorttable.js' javascript to make an html table sortable by clicking on the column headers. i'm not very good at javascript (yet) and would like the script to display the arrow the first time the table renders, not wait until a column header has been clicked. i'd like to display the down arrow upon initial page load/table render. i've tried monkeying around with it, to no avail. it's a little beyone me at this stage, i'd appreciate any guidance. (you can find 'sorttable.js' under google.)
