How to Begin Coding Missing db.php database code

Dear forum people:

      A certain menu takes in customer info before beginning a download.  But the message (Line 2) of the initiating insert.php is about a missing db.php file, referred to in line 2 of insert.php.  Lines 1 and 2 read,

<?php

  include("admin/includes/db.php");"

      Am unable to find any db.php file anywhere.  And am also very green at starting a database in PHP, although have tried off and on in with better results in Mysql.  This programmer had createrd a users.php file in her admin directory before her company folded.  Any help would be wonderful!

Thanks,

Yshua

Hi

Try replace the line:

include("admin/includes/db.php");

With this code (edit with your connecton data):

$conn = mysql_connect( "server_address", "username", "password")
    or die("Unable to connect to MySQL");

mysql_select_db("database_name");
if (mysql_error()) {
    echo "<br />". mysql_errno(). " : ". mysql_error();
}

- Or, add it in "db.php".

Dear MarPlo, and other readers:

      Well, still something left to handle, after creating reccus2 database to specs in MySQL, and inserting the following code as db.php:

Code: [select]

$conn = mysql_connect( "localhost", "host", "giraffeag1e14")

or die("Unable to connect to MySQL");

mysql_select_db("reccus2");

if (mysql_error()) {

echo "<br />". mysql_errno(). " : ". mysql_error();

}

The following messages came forth after entering one customer data page on the download info menu, therefore invoking the insert.php file above mentioned:

Warning: include(admin/includes/db.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs\insert.php on line 2

Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening 'admin/includes/db.php' for inclusion (include_path='.;C:\php\pear') in C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs\insert.php on line 2

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_query() in C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs\insert.php on line 4

Would sure like to know if this means the password info was workable, and what else is still wrong!

Thanks for the terrific help,

Yshua :)
