  1. Hey all, first time poster but I've heard great things about this forum. I'm looking for assistance building out a website I've had in mind for the past 5 years and would like to get it going.

Basically it will be a garage sale listing website for major cities across US and Canada. As we dont have a dataset to work with up front I would like to integrate with API's if possible otherwise it will be a slow start.

    Notes

    • I will be providing blank HTML coded templates for you to hook the PHP and MySQL with as I will do the front-end development
    • I will provide full wireframes for each section and possible variables including a flow map.
    • I would like AJAX integrated to help the flow of the site run seamlessly, not sure how this will play with a Google map front but something to discuss
    • You're good with jQuery animations/interactions and AJAX calls
    • Security is obviously utmost importance so pro knowledge and prevention of sql injects, hacks, etc must be in place
    • Looking to integrate with a third party API if possible to pre-populate the data such as listings on Kijiji

    V1.0

    General Flow

    • Landing Page (main map)
      • Will be a google map view with custom pins for each garage sale (similar to http://gsalr.com)
        • Database of cities with the ability to search and lookup (location detection button)
        • Kijiji integration for listings (if this is allowed) .. gsalr has integrated it with their but I'm not sure if they have an API
        • Clicking on a pin will open up a short summary with: Title, address, distance, items (tags), dates(s), photo(s), Learn More call to action
        • Ability to favorite
    • Detail screen of a single sale
      • Title
      • Dates and time running
      • Countdown
      • Tags
      • Location (with small map)
      • Directions
      • Description
      • Photo(s)
      • Ability to favorite
    • Post a sale
      • Sale type (Garage, yard or estate sale) - There will be a custom pin for each
      • Date(s) & time(s)
      • Location (address)..Be nice to have a auto location detect as well based on browser
      • Description
      • Weather conditions (rain or shine, shine only, etc.)
      • Photos
      • Tags
      • Confirm and Post button
      • Email confirmation with a link to your listing
    • Register
      • Email & password
      • or Facebook
    • Login/forgot password
    • User Profile
      • Name
      • Email
      • Password
      • Address
      • My Garage Sales (links to sales created by this profile)
        • Ability to edit or delete the sale
    • Basic user login/profile
    • Facebook login/signup ability

Future (not to be quoted on at this time)

    • Weekly email distribution of sales near you
    • Dashboard page with analytics for users who have created a profile

    * * * *

Schedule wise this will probably kick off in September but just looking for quotes at this time. I would like to have it fully up and running by end of February (styled and tested).

So as you can see it's a fairly light weight web app in my mind, I would like it to be built on a PHP/MySQL base. Not favoring MVC frameworks at this time as it will be easier for me to work with the core code. I will be working directly with you as I code the frontend and you build out the backend.

One thing that may slightly change in the next few weeks would be the addition of the dashboard for each city, this would have things like sales coming up, total sales in that city, etc.

Can either be quoted hourly or fixed bid, if fixed I would like to know your hourly rate for post core function updates and additions. Please share relevant work experience.

    Any questions and please ask!
