[adding a shoutbox to my site]

hi guys and gals and yes im new here but need some advise!!
i have a bit torrent web site with my m8 but we need a shoutbox applied to it
a m8 off ours did the coding in php(the site uses tbsouse code)
but if i apply the code in bittorrent.php folder would it work or fook it up
i would save the original of course back it up, in fact there's more bugs in this site than under ground :D
any way if some 1 can help me i would appreciate it. thx
