I am a .NET/C#/.NETVB/javascript/SQLServer/VISUAL STUDIO/... person attempting to migrate to php on a Windows platform.
I am concerned to even install php on my local test server for fear that it will demolish my setup in IIS7 and cause me real grief reestablishing the environment to good working order.
I have had a major few major nightmare sessions trying to get my SQL Server(on HOST and local) and the IIS7 with my .NET VB/C# environment. The config file entry was one of my hair pulling sessions. As simple as it might appear, it just would not work using all advice from many advanced people using vanilla approaches, etc... I did dozens of trial and error until I lucked up on a combination that made it. I have no idea why the advice of knowledgeable people failed, it makes no sense.
IIS7, Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, Windows 7 Professional (x64 but using 32 bit currently) all in top update level. Not using AJAX on this particular project. .NET Framework 4, SQL Server 2005.
I has been working for years now, practically problem free and here I am about to clobber it all.
Can someone advise me as to what php will do to the configuration?
Will it tip toe around the .NET setup and affect nothing on that side?
What would be an easy way setup a clean restore to prior php install, for example?
Anything else you can think about? Thank you.
