Hi, I'm wondering if someone could help please. I've been trawling the net and looking through forums. I'm having trouble with $objComport = new COM ( "AxSerial.ComPort" ); I get this responce Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'com_exception' with message 'Failed to create COM object `AxSerial.Comport': Invalid syntax ' in E:\ServerTest\htmldocs\Comport.php:3 Stack trace: #0 E:\ServerTest\htmldocs\Comport.php(3): com->com('AxSerial.Compor...') #1 {main} thrown in E:\ServerTest\htmldocs\Comport.php on line 3 Basically what I'm trying to do is open a com port and send a string "JOBS" This instruction tells my serial device what to do. If there is a better way of doing this I would really appreciate it. Thanks again Nev

Hi everybody, I am currently working with the php_serial.class to send out signals through the serial port of my computer. I set up a webserver on Windows with Apache and its working fine. The only problem is, that when I press the button on the homepage, it takes like 6 seconds to actually send something out the port. You guys have any ideas why this could be happening? I tested under Windows 7 and XP with the newest version of Apache Server and several different computers with different hardware. Always the same results. Here is the class: <?php define ("SERIAL_DEVICE_NOTSET", 0); define ("SERIAL_DEVICE_SET", 1); define ("SERIAL_DEVICE_OPENED", 2); /** * Serial port control class * * THIS PROGRAM COMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARANTIES ! * USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISKS ! * * @author Rémy Sanchez <thenux@gmail.com> * @thanks Aurélien Derouineau for finding how to open serial ports with windows * @thanks Alec Avedisyan for help and testing with reading * @copyright under GPL 2 licence */ class phpSerial { var $_device = null; var $_windevice = null; var $_dHandle = null; var $_dState = SERIAL_DEVICE_NOTSET; var $_buffer = ""; var $_os = ""; /** * This var says if buffer should be flushed by sendMessage (true) or manualy (false) * * @var bool */ var $autoflush = true; /** * Constructor. Hi there, Basically what i need is for my site to not refresh every time i click one of the buttons. I have got as far as finding out that it requires AJAX but i don’t have a clue how to use it This is some of my code...it basically covers the main parts but if you need more then please ask... <html> <head> <script> $(function() { var tabs = $( "#tabs" ).tabs({collapsible: true, active:"flase"}); tabs.find( ".ui-tabs-nav" ).sortable({axis:"x", stop:function() {tabs.tabs( "refresh" );} }); }); $(function() { $( ".box" ).draggable({containment: "#restrictor", scroll: false, snap: true, opacity: 0.35, cancel: ".box-content" }); $( ".box" ).addClass( "ui-widget ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" ) .find( ".box-header" ) .addClass( "ui-widget-header ui-corner-all" ) .prepend( "<span class='ui-icon ui-icon-minusthick'></span>") .end() .find( ".box-content" ); $( ".box-header .ui-icon" ).click(function() { $( this ).toggleClass( "ui-icon-minusthick" ).toggleClass( "ui-icon-plusthick" ); $( this ).parents( ".box:first" ).find( ".box-content" ).toggle(); }); $( "#container" ).disableSelection(); }); $(function() { $( "input[type=submit], #Buttons, button" ) .button() .click(function( event ) { event.preventDefault(); }); }); setInterval(function() { $('#timeval').load('Home_Automation/Includes/time.php'); }, 1000); </script> </head> <body> <!------------------------Serial Port/Commands/Functions---------------------------> <?php if (isset($_GET['action'])) { require("Home_Automation/Includes/php_serial.class.php"); $serial = new phpSerial(); $serial->deviceSet("COM3"); exec('mode COM3 BAUD=96 PARITY=n DATA=8 STOP=1 xon=off octs=off rts=on'); $serial->deviceOpen(); if ($_GET['action'] == "on") { $serial->sendMessage("L"); $file = fopen("Home_Automation/Includes/lights.txt","w"); fwrite($file, "1"); fclose($file); } else if ($_GET['action'] == "off") { $serial->sendMessage("l"); $file = fopen("Home_Automation/Includes/lights.txt","w"); fwrite($file, "0"); fclose($file); } else if ($_GET['action'] == "unlock") { $serial->sendMessage("D"); $file = fopen("Home_Automation/Includes/doors.txt","w"); fwrite($file, "1"); fclose($file); } $serial->deviceClose(); } ?> <!--------------------------------Main Container-----------------------------------> <div id="restrictor" class="ui-widget-content"> <!--------------------------------Controll Switches--------------------------------> <!-------------------------------------Doors---------------------------------------> <div class="box"> <div class="box-header">Doors</div> <div class="box-content"> <a class="button" href="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] . If someone could please show me some code snippets that i would need to include or something that would be great Thanks, Chris
