graham23s
Hi Guys, i have googled this and haven't seen anything, basically i can get the normal input field validations correct, but not sure how to check if an upload filed actually has a file in it or not code so far: function validate_uploads() { if (document.upload_form.file.value == "") { alert("You never selected a file for uploading!"); return false; } if (document.upload_form.file_name.value == "") { alert("You never entered a name for the file!"); return false; } // else return true // return true; } i thought it would be the name of the input filed but nope lol any help would be great cheers Graham Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/100952-checking-a-file-upload-field-isnt-empty/ Share on other sites
Northern Flame
i dont know if theres a way of doing that without actually uploading the file and then checking the size with a language like PHP, ASP, or ASP.NET Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/100952-checking-a-file-upload-field-isnt-empty/#findComment-517393 Share on other sites
RichardRotterdam
I think this prob does need serverside scripting. Would it be possible with some kind of ajax script. I usually make a seperate page for uploading images and text fields this is the way it is usually done on any site. But it would be nice to have it all in one form and validate it all at once Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/100952-checking-a-file-upload-field-isnt-empty/#findComment-518397 Share on other sites
