Kane250
Can anyone suggest some methods for creating a WYSIWYG text editor in PHP? Obviously the one we use to make these posts is what I need to make, but I can't figure out what has to go into it. Any suggestions?
p2grace
It wouldn't be written in strict php, it would require javascript or ajax (preferably javascript because it's faster)
SharkBait
TinyMCE or FCKEditor are the two most popular WYSIWYG editors.
dptr1988
The text editor used in these forums is just a simple textarea based editor with BBCode tags inserted by JavaScript . A WYSIWYG editor is much more complicated and much of the coding is done in JavaScript. So most of the programming that you are going to do would be in JavaScript. The only PHP code that you will need would code to load and save the from the editor. To get started, learn how to load/save text from a textarea. Kane250
Thanks! I actually found a yahoo yui editor to use, and it's much easier! Still cannot get it t load the text from the textarea but the yui is nice!
