ssl on the whole domain question

How do I make the ssl that is installed already transcend the whole domain.....ie www.domainname.com or test.domainname.com or domainname.test.com or pretty much any way you could get to that domain?  I used the htaccess page to redirect to https:// but do I need to do this for each individual page or is this something you can change in apache or somewhere else to make that domain always go through 443 thus being secured/encrypted from what I understand.  Pretty new to ssl's so I don't fully understand how to get it to work correctly.

Thank you for any help or advice or just pointing me in the right direction.

Justin
