[SOLVED] Help opening a link to a document

Hi, i am saving a word document in a directory on the server. Here is the code im using to try display it,

echo "<tr><th>Damage Report</th>";
	echo "<td>";
    	echo "<a href='upload/".$row['report']."' />";
echo "</td>";

The document name is saved in the the row 'report' in the database table.

Any help would be great thanks.

well the format for an a href is the following

 

<a href="link">LINK TEXT</a>

 

and yours is formatted like so..

 

<a href="upload/row_report"/>

 

therefore it's not showing any text...

 

instead of...

echo "<tr><th>Damage Report</th>";
	echo "<td>";
    	echo "<a href='upload/".$row['report']."' />";
echo "</td>";

 

try..

 

echo "<tr><th>Damage Report</th>";
	echo "<td>";
    	echo "<a href='upload/".$row['report']."'>Link text here!</a>";
echo "</td>";

 

if this was not your problem please explain in more detail!
