DLR
I have just installed a wonderful package WampServer becauseI gave up trying to install AMP components separately. Easy smooth installation - but MySql asks for a password without - me giving it one - and rejects it. I have had a copy of MySql installed before and I seem to remember that a new installation will still ask for the old password - well in my case no joy. It does not accept the old password. How can I change this via PhpMyAdmin? I have tried adding a new user and password with full privledges, but MySql does not accept this. Help! This all came about as I had to format my disc to get rid of a Windows glitch. I downloaded the latest AMP programmes and tried to set them up as before - but all I have got in return is frustration. Please somebody help me. I'm probably twice the age of any of you and am really struggling with the age thing and all ???!
wildteen88
to login to mysql after a fresh install you'd use the username root with no password (leave the password field blank if it prompts for it). You can always reset the password if you don't know it.
DLR
Thanks for the comment/help. But did not work. But here's the funny thing - I pressed control-C to close the window and I got straight into the mysql> prompt. So my problems are over (I think). I just have to find the right method to get my passwords working at root level and all is solved. Thanks for the trouble to provide assistance. By the way I think your logo is really cool.
