Hopefully simple problem that needs solving

Hi everyone!

 

I need to insert an email address into a MYSQL database...

 

 

I have loaded the variable in from Flash and this is working:

 

$email = $_REQUEST["email"];

 

 

I am then attempting to connect and input like this:

 

$hostname_knightsmov = "????????????";
$database_knightsmov = "?????????????";
$username_knightsmov = "????????????";
$password_knightsmov = "????????????";
$knightsmov = mysql_pconnect($hostname_knightsmov, $username_knightsmov, $password_knightsmov) or trigger_error(mysql_error(),E_USER_ERROR);


$insertSQL = sprintf("INSERT INTO email (email) VALUES (%s)";

  mysql_select_db($database_knightsmov, $knightsmov);
  $Result1 = mysql_query($insertSQL, $knightsmov) or die(mysql_error());

 

alas nothing is happening!  can anyone please help?

You are not providing the email for the sprintf()

$insertSQL = sprintf("INSERT INTO email (email) VALUES (%s)";

 

Try this:

$insertSQL = sprintf("INSERT INTO email (email) VALUES ('%s')", $email);
