How to do I upload files/images from my local computer to a remote server?

Hi,

 

Can anyone tell me how to proceed with this? I want to provide a facility on my webpage via a PHP script that will allow certain users to upload images to a directory (called "images") in my webhost (remote server)?

 

Do I need to use FTP? Via the FTP server provided to me?
