[SOLVED] Count won't go past 9

Why Hello There! I have this code:

$sql = "SELECT count(*) FROM pm_inbox WHERE status = 'Unread' AND user = '".$_SESSION['user']."'";
$res = mysql_query($sql) OR die(mysql_error());
$db = mysql_fetch_array($res);

echo $db[0][0];

?>

 

The problem starts after 9 entries. If there are 10 entries, it echoes the number 1, if there is 20, it echoes 2, and so on. Just wondering how do I fix this, so it shows numbers after 9? Any help would be appreciated.

$db[0][0] is the first character of $db[0]

 

use

echo $db[0];
