Is it possible to use an object within a function? I assumed I'd have to declare it global, which I've done, but all the functions that use my template script give me this error:

Notice: Undefined property: gettemplate

Here's the function that is causing this error:
//############ start show_nopermission ################

function show_nopermission(){
global $temp;

eval("\$output=$temp->gettemplate('noperms');");
echo $output;

}
I've checked over the template class just to be sure it's not a minor spelling error or something, and everything is as it should be. Any idea what could be causing this?

(edit: nevermind, i managed to figure out what the problem was)
