Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place for this topic so admin move it where would better fit.I am learning php for several months now and i made one site www.buxbg.com. I learned to make registration, log in and contact pages. Know how to display data from the database. I try to find job as php programmer and this was not enough so started to learn oop in php. The problem is i don't know what else people are making with php what kind of applications so it would be really helpful if someone who worked as php programmer or knows what is in demand now can tell me what are the applications that client wants or what you need to know to programm to be able to find a job, what kind of problems to solve or anything that is not just registration, log in,search or sending email. It would bne great if someone can tell me what kind of applications i can make for practice or what kind of application i need to to make and show in portfolio to be considered as serious candidate when i am applying to php job. Please help me i am really stuck here. Thanks in advance.

Frameworks.

Mostly it depends on the client, what is his/her requirements.

Also depends if you are freelancer, then try to make applications which a bit similar to drupal, joomla etc.

Another is creating frameworks,is a great advantage for programmer.

if you are working in a company projects, then all the things comes to client demands. we can't ignore them.

Okey thanks. Okey so joomla and drupal are content management systems. So i should be able to make cms that is similar to drupal or joomla. But they are huge, will one man is able to make that. Are there anything that management system do except deleteing, adding and editing articles? Should i know something else except to make cms? Do you have some example of how some customize cms should look like? And what is framework exactly?

A little about frameworks.

Now.its not necessary to make huge cms like drupal.its upto your knowledge and working capability.

I was working for a website.i make an admin area for them, now they can change any thing on the website.so you can say it a CMS.but that

was that huge.It was all upon their needs.

OOP is major advantage in programming.

I'm a freelance PHP dev, I build all kinds of things:

These are items that my clients have hired me for.

All of these are seen by my clients' clients.

ECommerce software

bug tracking software

CMS

Query Scripts (to query the status of things like TeamSpeak, Ventrillo, Game Servers, ext)

Then there is the stuff that my clients use for only internal use.

Call Logs

Scheduling software

Employee managment

Client databases - these are most popular, the client wants something that their remote employees (either telecommuters, or in the field people) can access their customer info.

There is more...

I spend an average of 18 hours a day in PHP/MySQL.
