coder9 Posted July 24, 2008 Share Posted July 24, 2008 Hello ok this code below, These are three different SQL sentences to get the total number of records: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM test_table; SELECT COUNT(id) FROM test_table; SELECT COUNT(1) FROM test_table; now how do i get that total number of records from mysql and store that into php variable? thank you in advance. wildteen88 Posted July 24, 2008 Share Posted July 24, 2008 You'd first use mysql_query to run the query, then to retrieve the result use any of mysql_fetch_* functions (* meaning row, assoc, object etc) or mysql_result. However I fail to see the purpose of all those queries, only one is needed. The first two do the same thing. The last wont work I dont think.
