Converting a date split in different columns to one timestamp

Recommended Posts

I have inherited a dbase where the columns are as follows..

Day  Date  Month  Year  Time

Sat  9      August 2008 15:00

I'd like to easily sort this dbase and ORDER BY the date for example. Is there an easy way to convert this data into one single entity, such as a timestamp.

Thanks

You could use the mysql STR_TO_DATE() function (your month is not in a directly usable format), but you would also need to use the CONCAT() function to combine the separate fields.

The best and fastest operating solution would be to modify the database so that it is using a single DATETIME column.
