pazkaw
Hi there, I've made my own upload script in PHP which allows a select group of trusted users to upload small image and media files to an upload directory on my server. In order for the files to be uploaded correctly, the permissions of that particular directory have to be set to 777, ofcourse, or else PHP will get very angry with you. On other pages, various users (and not just those selected trusted users) are able to download those files again from that directory. Can anyone tell me whether this approach of uploading/downloading files from a server is a possibly unsafe one or will do just fine, since I'm not totally confident about chmod'ing a directory to 777 myself? Any suggestions about making it more secure or explaining an alternative approach would be more than welcome! ignace
take a look at LDAP, changing directory permissions is not a definitive solution Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/119962-uploading-files-and-directory-permissions/#findComment-617978 Share on other sites
