a real problem with mod_php

For my sins, I have to install a Novell / SuSE Open Enterprise Server 2 (the one with eDirectory / NDS add-on).

Installing the server has been a nightmare. I'm a Red Hat / Fedora man, but now I'm STUCK and no-one anywhere seems to have an answer to the problem.

As you may or may not know, OES2 uses the Apache Server for all the NDS Management Tools, so I need to setup several Virtual Hosts for Web Sites, Forums etc. Novell in their infinite wisdom decided to wreck the http.conf file and scatter it in lots of bits and pieces. but after wading through the manuals, I managed to get it set up (well at least I thought I had!).

My problem is that whenever I try to restart Apache I get an error message that it can't find mod_php4. The only thing I have found in the DVD and via Yast is mod_php5.so in the usr/lib/apache2. Not sure what this does or what it's for, but Apache is looking for mod_php4 (or 5 - I could alter it OK)

I got the bright idea of downloading mod_php5 and trying to install it, but like everything else on SuSE these days, it comes up with dozens of dependency errors!

Can anyone help me with this, PLEASE. All I want is a few Virtual Hosts. I can do this on Red Hat or Fedora in a couple of minutes!!!
