[SOLVED] Is this a regex job?

Thats the input string.

 

I want the number, knowing that the length and value of the 'The_egg_man' can change and so can the number.

 

I have tried using preg_match with (\d+) and ([0-9]+) with no avail though no doubt I'm doing it wrong.

 

Any help appreciated, thanks.

you can do like

 

$data = "The_egg_man</h3><pre>27676";
$t = explode ("<pre>", $data);
echo $t[1];

 

or

 

$t = substr(stristr($data,"<pre>"), 5);
echo $t;
