[SOLVED] need help - only pull one EACH of each value type from db

Hard to explain in a topic title, but here is what I currently have:

$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `materials` WHERE material='$dropdown' ORDER BY `size_d` ASC") or DIE(mysql_error());
while($r = mysql_fetch_array($result))
{
  $id_p = $r['id'];
  $grade = $r['grade'];
  $content .= "$grade<input type=\"radio\" name=\"grade\" value=\"$grade\" />";
}

 

Now, let's say I had ten items and they are all '303' for grade. I only want to display this one time. If I have ten items '303' and ten items '304', then I need to show 303 as an option and 304 as an option. What is the best way to do this? Right now if there was ten or '303' then it would display 303 as an option, ten times.

use SELCT DISTINCT

Perfect, thanks. I'm so used to doing queries where * is what I need that I haven't used anything else in awhile.
