mod_rewrite with sub domain rewrite

Ok, so this is what I'm trying to do:

 

test.domainname.com rewrites to /test/ directory

 

I have that working fine

 

Now what I want to do is rewrite the following

 

test.domainname.com/group/123/ rewrite to /test/group.php?id=123

test.domainname.com/group/123/456 rewrite to /test/group.php?id=123&sort=456

 

This is what I have so far

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^test.domainname\.com [NC]
RewriteRule !^domainname/.*$ /test%{REQUEST_URI} [L]

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
