waynew
About a year and a half ago a friend of mine had an Acer laptop. After a year it's fan stopped working. End of story. Not long after, I buy one. Now, the damn thing keeps over-heating and cutting out. By the look of things, my fan has stopped spinning. Anyone else here ever had a problem with Acer laptops? akitchin
i think the more appropriate question is, has anyone ever NOT had a problem with their Acer product? waynew
Got speedfan: My core temperature at the moment is about 62C. Apparently, one way to do it is blow compressed air through the fan (read up about it). One guy even used a hoover. By the looks of mine (can see it when I hold it up to the light), it's flooded with dust and Acer have a rubber(or plastic) ring there that looks a bit distorted. Which could mean that its after melting a bit. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/127302-acer-suck/#findComment-658500 Share on other sites
dropfaith
yeah ive had the same issue with friends with acers that ring in theory prents dust from getting in but the heat will warp it and allow to much dust in eventually killing the fan.. but acers are like 300 bucks what did you expect Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/127302-acer-suck/#findComment-658502 Share on other sites

waynew
Small update: Just opened up the back of my laptop and found a 3cm-thick blanket of dust that was covering the outtake. No joke. The dust was so thick that I was able to take it off in one lump without even breaking it. Core temperatures in their 40Cs and can to put my ear up really close to hear the fan. I love it when you rid yourself of a massive inconvenience. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/127302-acer-suck/#findComment-659399 Share on other sites
