oustu
I have recently installed Xampp and made a simple php file. When I try to connect to my server with the basic username("root") and no password, I just get this: Could not connect: My code looks like this: <html> <body> <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","root"); if ($con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } ?> </body> </html> I haven't really messed with any other settings so can anybody tell me if I am missing something or doing something wrong? thanks Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/136448-trouble-connecting-to-sql-server-in-xampp/ Share on other sites
Brinn
I have recently installed Xampp and made a simple php file. But anyway, it requires me to put the field of the password when connecting. So try this: <html> <body> <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","root", ""); if ($con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } ?> </body> </html> Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/136448-trouble-connecting-to-sql-server-in-xampp/#findComment-712557 Share on other sites
PFMaBiSmAd
You should be learning php, developing php code, and debugging php code on a system with error_reporting set to E_ALL and display_errors set to ON to get php to help you with all the errors it discovers when it executes your code. Set these two values in your php.ini and stop and start your web server to get any changes made to php.ini to take effect. Alternatively, you can turn these two settings on in your script, but doing so won't help with parse/syntax errors. oustu
Thanks for replying guys. It actually turns out that my code was working but it said I was not connecting because of the missing "!" in the if statement.
