I've created a class method that searches through a string of html, looks for class variables and methods and replaces the variables with the appropriate data and executes the methods it finds. I'm using preg_replace with the e modifier.

It replaces the variables as expected and it executes any methods found, however the methods are executed outside the html tag it's embedded in. The methods it executes echos a string but that string is placed before the tag the method is embedded in, eg

<h6>$this->get-title()</h6>

becomes

"title string"<h6></h6>

What am I missing here? I need to have that string within the tags
