Variables in JavaScript and PHP

Hi. I have a little question about variables between JS and PHP.

 

I need to use some variable in my program, but without refreshing the screen or modify the values in a DataBase.

 

Anyway, i want to know if is there an easy way to transfer the content of a php variable into a javascript variable.

 

A system like this works :

 

<?php

$my_variable = “Hello world blabla”;

echo(“<span id=\”luna\”>”.$my_variable.”</span>”);

?>

<script language="javascript">

var my_variable_js = 0;

my_variable_js = document.getElementById(‘luna’).innerHTML;

</script>

 

But i don’t know if there is something better...

you could set-up an ajax function to change the variable with the responseText from your php file.

That will work. You can process php code and output it to the browser as javascript. But you can't have javascript affect php code.
