Guest Posted February 17, 2009 Share Posted February 17, 2009 I have this number 1.79769313486231e+308 I want to know what that actually means I need to store large numbers but dont know if this is big enough but I want to now my limits. Can someone tell me of an online converter or a php or actionscript or anything to tell me how many digits this means or atleast point me in some direction to figure this out. Mchl Posted February 17, 2009 Share Posted February 17, 2009 1.79...e+308 means 1.79 * 10^308 Which means it's 308 digits long However: This number is a so called 'floating point' number, which means that your computer does not store all of its digits, but only several first ones, so that it fits in (relatively) small amount of memory. Look up 'floating point' in wikipedia for example.
