pionbrain
Thank you for any suggestions... in my vista WAMP environment, localhost and 127.0.0.1 suddenly "redirects" the browser to google.com. Everything was running good, and nothing new was installed or settings changed (that I know). Bizarre! I can ping localhost and 127.0.0.1. The windows...etc/hosts file is good, I deleted the ::1 (ipv6?) entry but nothing changed. I tried disabling ipv6 on my ethernet adapter. there is no html file, .htaccess or anything that would redirect it. I made apache listen on other ports (like localhost:81) but it still redirects. I tried the default httpd.conf file, and installed the latest apache version. I'd really love to get back to work, but this is a strange problem! pionbrain
Solved! I searched the hard drive for new/modified files after the last known working date. Somehow an .htaccess file with 301 redirect to google.com had appeared in my c:\ . which affected my web dev folder.
