Here's my httpd.conf

http://pastebin.com/m71ef639c

I know these htaccess files should work cause they came with Magento and Wordpress, plus my own redirect htacces doesn't even work.

If there's an error in this httpd.conf, I won't be surprised, because this is the third or so one I have tried. Is there any other setting, in my configuration files, or on my computer (Ubuntu 8.10) that would stop .htaccess files from working? What permissions should they have? I've tried 777.

I installed with bitnami's LAMP stack, but this also happaned with a regular install using Synamptic Package Manager, and I have since reformatted!

I reset my computer and now it works. I think it's because there seems to be multiple (unwanted) httpds running on my system, so even if I restart apache, it doesn't reset them all, so the changes don't take effect. I have to reset the system to make a change >:(
