Anti-Moronic
Hi, I was needing a little substr help. I'm not tackling a specific problem, but I am needing some understanding on how I can implement this. Say I have a string: "what, he said that -100" How would I go about putting everything from the , to the - in a string? Namely: "he said that" I am at a loss with these needles and such. Thanks. .josh
substr is only good for string extraction if you already know where to start and end. Extracting things between "a" and "b" is what the regex functions are for. $string = "what, he said that -100"; preg_match('~,\s?(.*?)\s?-~',$string,$match); // example to see the extracted info echo "<pre>";print_r($match); Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/149431-simple-substr-help/#findComment-784857 Share on other sites
