Suggestions for Data-driven Tree Script or Example?

PHP Newbie: I want to represent some data in a tree structure and have the ability to update the data: add, amend or delete nodes at any level.

Can anyone point me towards a good script or example that achieves this?  I'm pretty sure that I could figure out how to render the tree in html by myself, but integrating the edit facility has me stuck.

The tree would be backed by a single database table containing the all the nodes, e.g.
