jordanwb
Should I bother making my scripts backwards compatible for PHP4? I don't think I should.
irkevin
well i think there's a lot of factor to consider. if your server supports php5, what's the use?
rhodesa
personally, i don't anymore, but it depends on your client base. who are you writing the code for? are they guaranteed to have PHP5+? if any questions are unknown, you should probably support PHP4 still. sadly, there are several hosting services still out there running PHP4... Yeah it's not exactly hard to upgrade to a somewhat recent version.
irkevin
i was always wondering.. is php5 compatible on earlier version of php?
jordanwb
i was always wondering.. is php5 compatible on earlier version of php? Not always. Some functions have parameters added in PHP5. For example in setcookie, the httponly parameter was added in 5.2, but depending what functions you're using there may be no problems.
