Stella Richards Posted May 2, 2009 Share Posted May 2, 2009 Hi, I have linux xp installed and want to be able to stream windows media player. I figured out mplayer was the way to go but WOW am I confused. I am a total linux NEWBIE. I believe I have a command prompt mplayer now i was able to compile and make that. I am trying to get the plugin for firefox now. I have the file but can't compile it. Help says I have to have moz developer stuff I downloaded that but no clue how to install it. lispwriter Posted May 4, 2009 Share Posted May 4, 2009 VLC for sure. mplayer is great for playing files already on your computer but the only reason i installed it was to use it with mencoder for transcoding and other various video editing tricks. it's totally not necessary if you're looking to just play videos or to stream stuff off of the Internet.
