XSS debugging

hello I am working on a Xss debug for my user submissions  they are all going to be phased through bbc and since I am going to have [ php] [ /php] with the

highlight_string

function I can't seem to use

htmlspecialchars()

so instread I decided to try and filter out all xss attempts but thats  virturly impossible so I was hoping you guys could add to what I have already created
