Kryllster
How would I go about using http-referrer based on a session cookie. What Im trying to do is make a kind of modularized dungeon for a game that I have been working on from time to time and basically I want to have an entrance but be able to change wich dungeon module it goes to. The only thing I can think that might work is a session for that dungeon and the entrance would have some kind of config file setting the session then use that session as http referrer to go back to that entrance only. Does this make sense or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks,
GingerRobot
I'm not sure i really follow exactly what you're trying to do, but it sounds like a bad idea. The referrer is sent by the user (well, their browser anyway) and, as such, can't be trusted. It could easily be spoofed, so using for some part of your game is a no-no really. Not only that, but browsers can be set up not to send the referrer and some firewalls block it -- so you could end up causing problems for legitimate users. I kind of nknew it was bad from what I read on the internet but wanted to double check here.
