[SOLVED] javascript event register function w/ args

I'm not terribly familiar with the js.

 

I figured out how to add an event handler - IE

 

element.addEventListener('click',spyOnUser,false)

 

(cute example from http://www.quirksmode.org/js/events_advanced.html) but for the life of me I can't figure out how to use a function with an argument.

 

element.addEventListener('click',spyOnUser(somearg),false)

 

seems to fail.

How do I do that?
