webref.eu
Hi All I want to try using the Smarty.net templating system. Is this something that can be installed on my shared hosting (Reseller Ac) when I don't have my own server? Thanks Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/165386-can-smarty-be-installed-on-shared-hosting/ Share on other sites
ignace
As long as this server has php installed you can run everything (and yes this includes your templating engine) that can run with/on php Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/165386-can-smarty-be-installed-on-shared-hosting/#findComment-872225 Share on other sites
webref.eu
Can I put the Smarty directories in folders inside my web accessible document route, e.g. the Smarty libs files in: www/libs/ without there being any security issue?? That's what I'm concerned about, and as I have a shared hosting account I don't think I can put them above the www/. Many thanks Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/165386-can-smarty-be-installed-on-shared-hosting/#findComment-872233 Share on other sites
wildteen88
Yes that will be fine. To prevent users from looking in your libs/ folder you can place a .htaccess files in that folder and place the following code in it Options -Indexes This will produce a 403 forbidden error when a user tries to go yoursite.com/libs/.
