Passing Session to A Different Web Page

I have a login web page that works great. After the user log's in, the page 'menu.php' loads. My problem is that the user's correct ID is not passed to the link 'Update Profile' that is on 'menu.php'.

 

Attached is 'index.php', which is the login page and 'menu.php' which is the page that should load with the user's correct 'mem_id' within the link 'Update Profile'.

 

I figure it's a SESSIONS issue, but can't figure out where I'm going wrong.

 

Connection files have been purposely withdrawn from the attached files.
