techiefreak05
Hi, I recnelty installed Apache and PHP on my computer, in hopes to host my webvsite on my own computer without having the host it anywhere but my own computer, I was wondering how to setup a DNS to get, for example, www.mydomain.com to point to my computer, also is it possible ot do that with a domain that isnt taken, but you have bought it yet? kinda like getting a "free" '.com' domain. oldmanice
No you cant do all those things you want :'( If you want it a domian name you will have to buy one you cant have it for free. Heres sites I can reccomend for you www.register.com or www.easily.co.uk but if you want something free you will have to use your ip address wich can found at http://whatismyip.com and use the coad that comes up. The good thing about registering a domian name is you can point your apache server to your ip address so your domian name will be your apache server.Hope this helps ??? If you have a dynamic ip that you will have to go through someplace likewww.dyndns.com/www.No-IP.comwww.zoneedit.comor if you know someone that run a DNS server perhaps you can ask them if they will setup a host file for you.
